Ron Damashek is, and for many years has been, a peer designated member of Illinois Leading Lawyers and an Illinois Super Lawyer in Business Litigation. Ron chairs Stahl Cowen's litigation department, where he primarily resolves disputes involving real estate and financial industry issues.

Ron also has extensive experience in general commercial litigation, regularly handling cases involving breaches of contract and fiduciary duties, fraud, statutory violations, corporate and partnership disputes, and injunctions. Ron has settled, arbitrated, and tried cases, and stands ready to pursue his clients' interests aggressively and efficiently in any forum.

As counsel to secured creditors, Ron regularly litigates and works out troubled loans, resolves disputes with competing claimants and loan participants, and advises clients as to their contractual rights and obligations under loan documents, intercreditor agreements, and purchase and assumption agreements. Ron has foreclosed hundreds of commercial mortgages on properties ranging from downtown office buildings to a suburban golf course, represented secured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, and worked with, and represented, court appointed receivers.  Ron works closely with Stahl Cowen’s financial services practice group to meet its clients’ loan documentation, securitization, asset recovery, and disposition needs.

As counsel retained by title insurance companies, Ron litigates, arbitrates, and mediates claims involving title defects, title insurance coverage, competing lien priorities, title and loan fraud, boundary disputes, and agent liability.  Ron’s title team has resolved countless real estate disputes and obtained significant recoveries for title insurers both directly from obligors and from bankruptcy estates.  He is a former Chair of the ABA-TIPS Title Insurance Litigation Committee and represents the Illinois Land Title Association as amicus curiae on appeals of title issues of state-wide concern.

As counsel to condominium associations, Ron resolves disputes concerning turnover, non-payment of assessments, owner property rights, election procedures and results, and construction defects. Ron also frequently prepares and enforces association contracts and guides condominium boards in interpreting and complying with the Illinois Condominium Property Act and condominium declarations, by-laws, rules and regulations.

Ron also regularly represents developers, property owners, and contractors in the resolution of real estate disputes, such as controversies involving municipalities, development partners, adjoining property owners, contractors, landlord-tenant relationships, and mechanic's lien claims.
