Michael S. Pinsky
Mike Pinsky has more than 30 years of experience practicing in the areas of estate planning, business and tax law. He works with clients to develop strategies which will achieve family goals and deliver tax savings by advising on the benefits of wealth transfer, asset protection, drafting of wills, trusts, family limited partnerships, limited liability companies, preparing essential estate planning documents and implementing sophisticated approaches to federal and state tax savings. Prior to joining Stahl Cowen, Mike was a partner at two other Chicago law firms.Mike counsels clients on federal and state tax, probate and business matters, including federal estate and gift, income, employment, asset protection and excise tax planning and contested matters for individuals, closely-held or publicly-held corporations, S corporations, limited liability companies, estate and trusts. He has advised clients on general business and tax matters involving the structuring of acquisitions, sales, reorganizations, liquidations, tax-free exchanges as well as on general corporate matters. He has also prepared tax opinions and tax aspects sections for offering memorandum and for sophisticated estate and succession planning.
Mike has extensive experience in representing clients in adversarial tax proceedings before the IRS, state administrative agencies and various courts, which have included complex multi-million dollar cases dealing with multiple issues and contested estates. He has requested private letter rulings and handled various procedural and collection matters, including offers in compromise with the IRS.
Mike is a registered Certified Public Accountant and has authored numerous articles and presented at events sponsored by the Chicago Bar Association, American Bar Association, the IRS and a variety of other business and professional associations. He is also one of a select group of lawyers to earn Martindale Hubbell’s AV Preeminent Rated Lawyer distinction, he also was selected as a 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Super Lawyer and 2014, 2015 and 2016 Leading Lawyer.
