Don Nord has extensive background in representing closely-held businesses (corporations, sole proprietorships, limited partnerships and other entities), including the private placement of securities in compliance with federal and state securities laws. Currently, a majority of Mr. Nord’s practice is in estate planning matters and real estate matters. Mr. Nord is very familiar with federal estate tax laws and planning techniques including the use of irrevocable life insurance trusts, credit-shelter trusts (in wills and through revocable living trusts), and other steps for preserving and enhancing the value of personal assets.

The projects which Mr. Nord has addressed over the years have emphasized real estate and companies involved in real estate projects, including the organization of a real estate investment trust (REIT) and the organization of the nation's largest condominium conversion company. He has represented the purchasers of major commercial properties including the largest apartment building complex in the Chicago area (1150 apartments). He also represented the purchaser of a major development company which owned, among other things, a regional shopping center, two 300-bed hotels, and extensive undeveloped land parcels.
