John Joyce’s areas of practice include real estate, secured lending, business law and estate planning. Mr. Joyce represents residential and commercial developers, commercial property owners, financial institutions, not-for-profit organizations, real estate management companies and investors. He represents his clients in all phases, aspects and types of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, residential and commercial, development, zoning, leasing, loan documentation, condominium conversions and condemnation. Mr. Joyce’s estate planning practice has evolved from his personal relationships with his clients.

Mr. Joyce began his legal career with Shefsky & Froelich Ltd. in the real estate department. He obtained experience negotiating and drafting documents in connection with real estate transactions, including extensive exposure to REIT related transactions involving major regional shopping centers, office buildings, hotels, condominium conversions, build to suit developments, and acquisition and sales of retail developments. Mr. Joyce also represented banking institutions in connection with negotiating and drafting loan documents for commercial and real estate related loans.

Mr. Joyce left Shefsky & Froelich Ltd. in 1993 to practice with James R. Sneider and form Sneider & Joyce. During the existence of the firm, he represented the State of Illinois as a Special Assistant Attorney General in condemnation cases and the State of Illinois Comptroller’s Office regarding Cemetery Trust Fund cases. Mr. Joyce also represented a national real estate broker company regarding franchise related filings within an eight state region, including Illinois, and franchisees’ enforcement matters.

In 1999, Mr. Joyce merged his practice with Stahl Brashler LLC. He continued to develop his practice with emphasis in residential and commercial real estate development, business law, secured lending and estate planning.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Joyce worked as a commercial lease analyst for JMB Realty in Chicago, Illinois. He is also a licensed real estate broker in Illinois.
